

LUKE E. DURNELL, 68, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, 11:50 p.m., at his residence. Born April 8, 1945, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Mary E. (Craig) and Charles Durnell. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a recipient of the Medal of Valor. He was a wire enameler at General Electric for 34 years, Retiring in 2000. He was a life member of V.F.W. Eagles 248. Surviving are his daughter, Angela (Craig) Durnell-Tindall of Fort Wayne; son, Matt (Rose) Durnell of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Chelsey Durnell, Melissa, Thomas and Beth Cooley; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Durnell of Fort Wayne; and sisters, Betty Hyde of Fort Wayne, Katherine Gephart of Churubusco and Rebecca White of Ossian. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Haas) Durnell, in 2005; son, Mitchell Durnell; and brother, Harold Durnell. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling one hour prior and Military service conducted by the U.S. Marines and Waynedale American Legion. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse Hospice or Cancer Services.
