Margaret A. "Maggie" Burke, 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1939 in Fort Wayne, the daughter of the late Robert and Esther (Leizer) Nelson. She graduated from Central High School in 1957. She worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company and St. Francis College, but she spent much of her career working at Wagner Electric as the account manager. She was a member at American Legion Post 47 and Fremont Moose Lodge 2387. She was an avid IU basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Surviving family include her son, Bruce Sidwell; daughter, Beth (Steve) Corbat; grandchildren, Shawnna McAninch, Ryan (Melinda) Sidwell, Nicole Sidwell and Katie Sidwell, Cassandra (David) Hill, Emily (Kyle) Zeiger, and Allyson (Daniel) Kleber; 19 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; brother, Dale Nelson; and a very special friend, Judy Overholt, who was like a sister. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husbands, John Williams and John Burke; and brothers, Lester Nelson and Robert Nelson. Funeral service will be 12:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2023 at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Elara Caring Hospice; and Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
