Marian L. Clare, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. She was born in Humboldt, Iowa on February 4, 1933, daughter of the late Osmund and Selvina (Hanson) Knutson. Marian received an Associates degree from the Fort Dodge, Iowa Community College. In 1983 she was an administrative assistant for the Essex company, retiring in 2004. Marian was proud of her faith and attended the Lutheran Life Villages chapel services in her time there. She enjoyed traveling, going for walks, playing cards, and doing crossword puzzles.
Marian is survived by her children, Colleen Southerland, Cathy Walters, and William Clare; grandchildren, Matthew (Cara) Welch, Natalie (Mike) Smith, Rick (Danielle) Southerland, and Jamie (John) Steinabcher; great-grandchildren, JJ, Maddie, Michael, Jacob, Ella, Zoe, Julia, Cameron, and Carson; and her sister, Luella Jensen of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was also preceded in passing by her husband, Richard Clare; four brothers; and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Lutheran Life Villages - The Village at Anthony Boulevard, 6701 South Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46816, with visitation one hour prior. Contributions in Marian's memory may be made to Lutheran Life Villages- The Village at Anthony Boulevard.
