Mary Kay (Hobrock) Bonar, 66, of Fort Wayne died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital. Mary was born September 19, 1955, in Fort Wayne to David and Barbara (Schlatter) Hobrock. Mary enjoyed a 17-year career as a licensed practical nurse. She discovered Unity Church in 1986 and joyfully became involved in an exciting spiritual journey. Mary became licensed as a Unity teacher and greatly enjoyed teaching classes. She was active at Unity Christ Church and was truly loved by her Unity family. Mary was dedicated to all the children in her life and was never happier than when she had a houseful of kids. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and amazing sense of humor. She was so much fun to be with! Mary enjoyed cooking and her family and friends will forever cherish the wonderful memories spent around her dining table. Whether it was a holiday, birthday, baby shower, or a simple gathering, Mary graciously welcomed them into her home. Mary said the highlight of her life was meeting her husband, Ron, at Unity Church. They were married at sunset on a beach in Florida on April 21, 1989. Mary and Ron spent as much time as possible at the Bonar farm in Ohio. Card games with the Ohio Bonars was a priority; much laughing and storytelling would take place. Mary was also a volunteer as a surgical assistant at Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Mary became a foster parent to many puppies, kittens, and recovering animals. She was committed to their recovery. Mary gained great joy and satisfaction through her service to the shelter and all its animals. Her hard work and dedication will be missed. Mary loved to read and travel with family. She loved holidays and decorated her home beautifully for each season. Mary loved walking her dog and singing around a campfire with grandchildren. We loved her dearly. She is deeply missed by all.
