MARY L. CARRIER, 95, died peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by family at her home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born December 9, 1930, in Edgerton, Ohio, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of faith. Mary married her beloved husband, Byron Carrier, on June 6, 1953; he preceded her in death in 2009.
Mary will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and her famous sugar cookies. Her greatest joy was time with family, especially the gatherings she hosted at home. She also loved walking in Foster Park and volunteering to help others. For more than a decade, she sewed teddy bears in memory of loved ones who had passed and donated all proceeds to charity.
Mary is survived by her seven children, Theresa (Gary) Walker, Karen (Barry) Berggoetz, Dave (Kathy) Carrier, Diane Day, Jeff (Myra) Carrier, Janine (Kurt) Saugstad, and Matt (Amy) Carrier; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Margi McNair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial at Catholic Cemetery will be private for family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Stillwater Hospice.
