Mary W. Johnson

Mary (Williams) Johnson was born February 11, 1943 in Humboldt, Tennessee. She passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Kingston Healthcare Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was baptized at a young age and after moving to Fort Wayne, she united with Friendship Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for many years. In February 2014, she began a new walk of faith and joined with Pastor Guy Willis at Grace United Missionary Baptist Church, as a charter member. Mary served faithfully as a Kitchen Committee Member, Contact Clerk and Executive Board Member.

In 2008, she retired from Magnavox after many years of service.

Mary was devoted to her family, even when they did not agree. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. As her own health began to decline, she did not let that stop her from caring for her brother, Elmer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Willie Williams; mother, Geraldine (Hassell) Haynes beloved husband of 19 years, Sam Johnson Jr.; sisters, Anna W. Gibson and Brenda Haynes; brother, Elmer Haynes; nephews, Gary Crawley, Damien Gibson and Jamien H. Gibson.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, a niece, Latonya Haynes; great nieces, Shaquayia Crawley, LaDiamond Crawley, Keira Gibson and Gazhelle Gibson; great niece, Justice Crawley; great nephews, Jamarion and Jaiceon Crawley; god children, Van and Staci Morris a very special and dear friend, Sara Key, her beloved Pastor Willis, Grace United Church family along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at Grace United Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2101 Phenie St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802, on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

The funeral service will follow at the same location, Grace United Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:00 am.

Mary will be laid to rest in Highland Park Cemetery.
