Mary Alice Splendore-Baxter

Mary Alice Splendore-Baxter, 73, of Fort Wayne, IN, unexpectedly passed away January 24, 2024 at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, CA. She was born May 15, 1950, in Niagara Falls, New York. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice Splendore. She graduated from Madonna High School Niagara Falls, NY in 1968. Mary Alice was a former Miss Niagara Falls.

She started her financial career with Waterfield Mortgage in 1984, and later joined Paine Webber Inc. in 1985, and became a Vice President. The company was acquired by UBS in 2000 and Mary Alice retired September 30, 2011. She and her husband were among the top 50 financial advisor teams in the United States. She was the financial advisor member of the Fort Wayne Women’s Business Forum. Mary Alice loved to travel and traveled the world with friends and family as well as with the corporate business team.

She helped design their retirement home in Newport Beach, CA in 2000, where she spent 22 years.

Mary Alice is survived by her husband, Gene Edward Baxter, of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Amy (Brad) Bartee of Indianapolis, IN; Matt (Kristine) Paonessa of Fort Wayne, IN; Adrienne Waikel of Indianapolis, IN; step-daughter, Paige (Terry) Hart of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Michael (Barbara) Splendore of Cottonwood, AZ; John Splendore of Perry, IA; sister, Anita Splendore of Newton, MA; 9 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Her grandchildren was her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her step-son, Scott Baxter in 2001, and brother-in-law Michael Frantz.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday February 10, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation also from 4-7 p.m. Friday February 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Entombment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
