Melissa Ann Swihart

Melissa Ann Swihart, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Toledo, OH to the late Richard and Florence (Lytle) Lawrence. She married Bruce Swihart on October 25, 1958 and he survives. She worked for Tracer Insurance for four years. She then worked for Midland Inc. for 40 years and retired from Rieke Corporation. Melissa enjoyed to bowl and play golf. She also liked to dance and musicals. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her family and having them all together. Melissa will forever be the "Matriarch of the Compound." Surviving are her children, Pam Swihart, Greg (Monica) Swihart, and Steve Swihart; grandchildren, Amanda, Chad, Danelle (Bruce), and Grant; six great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Judy) Lawrence; and sister-in-law Judy Lawrence. Melissa was also preceded in death Jim Lawrence. Funeral service 2:00 pm Thursday, November 19, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
