Michael P. Callaghan

Michael grew up in Oak Park, MI. and graduated from Berkley High School in 1969. He graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology (Southfield, MI) in 1974 with a B.S. in chemistry in 1974 and later attended Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) where he studied biology.

Michael had a long and successful engineering career in the automotive industry. Over the years, he worked at Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI), Eagle-Picher (Fort Wayne, IN) and retired his career at Continental Structural Plastics (Huntington, IN). It was at Eagle-Picher where he met his loving wife Thelma. Michael was also a member of the American Foundry Society.

He was a gentle, humble and kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. He and Thelma enjoyed visiting their campsite in Howe, IN on weekends and spending time with close friends. Michael also enjoyed golfing and was a life-long Detroit Lions fan.

Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years Thelma Callaghan, children Douglas (Margie) Callaghan (Boston, MA), Kevin (Megan) Callaghan (Bloomfield, MI) and Mickie Susan Callaghan (Lansing, MI); step-daughters Paula Fritz-Adams, Sharon Black-Stephens and Stacy (Brian) Gather (all of Fort Wayne, IN); sibling Dr. Mark (Suzanne) Callaghan (Marquette, MI); grandchildren William Callaghan, Demetric Callaghan (Bloomfield, MI), Shawn Fritz, Shanda Fritz (Fort Wayne, IN), and Aunt Carolyn Maratta (Caraopolis, PA) along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial Service will be 1:30 pm Friday November 12, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. To sign the online guestbook go to www.mccombandsons.com
