Mildred Ann “Mickey, like the mouse” Buschman, passed away on April 1, 2023. She was born on May 28 1936, the daughter of the late Charles and Eileen McCully.
Mickey grew up a farmer’s daughter in Indiana, along with her 4 sisters and brother. She attended Monticello High School and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1954. She met Fred and married September 12, 1958, and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she held jobs with NIPSCO, The Savoy Dress Shop, Avon, Roehm Marine, Lincoln Bank and Wells Fargo. Her favorite job was a Church Secretary.
Mickey, Fred, and Jeff were members of St. Michael Lutheran Church during their time in Fort Wayne. In addition to being the Church Secretary, she served on the Altar Guild, helped with funeral dinners, and welcomed new members. She was a member of the Home Economics Club for many years, and often shared stories of the group activities. After Fred passed in 2010, Mickey visited Helen and Charlie in the winter. In 2013, she took on the challenge of moving from the house she and Fred had lived in for over 40 years and moved to Florida. She made more friends and was an active member of Holy Cross Lake Mary, serving on the Altar Guild, helping with funeral dinners and other functions, and attending Bible studies and women’s luncheons. She took cruises with her sisters, went on bus trips, and loved to shop and eat out.
She loved her poodle “Scamp”, and later “Bailey”, who came into her life after Fred passed. Bailey was a joy and a comfort until she crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022.
Most recently, she moved to Columbus, OH to be near Jeff and his family. She loved spending time with them all and being with them for holidays.
Mickey was a best friend to many and a wonderful wife, mother, and sister, with a ready smile, joy in living and love for God. Her loved ones know she is now in heaven, with Fred by her side and Bailey on her lap. She will be greatly missed.
Mickey is survived by her son, Jeff Buschman, his wife Jodi, and 5 grandchildren, Colton (Morissa), Hayleigh, Dustin (Claudia), Andrew (Ebony) and Rachael, 4 great grandchildren, Arrah, Vayah, Kailo and Auston. She is also survived by her sisters, Jane Hines, Rogene (Jack) Han, Ruth (Lee) Mundy, and Helen (Charlie) Burns. She has many cousins, nephews, and nieces as well.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 51 years, Fred Buschman, January 9, 2010, grandchild Skyler, brother Chuck McCully, brother-in-law David Hines,
