Nolan Eugene Kuker, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at the Lutheran Home Pine Valley, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Nolan is predeceased by his mother and father, Irma and John Kuker, his wife of 52 years, Constance M. Kuker and his son, Nolan E. Kuker, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Ramzy (David) and Sandra Graf (Rob) and daughter-in-law, Ellen Williams-Kuker (Nolan, Jr.), five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Nolan was a member of the Magnavox Quarter Century Club having retired from Magnavox/Raytheon after 30 years. Nolan had a servant’s heart; a lifelong Lutheran, he was an active member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, Aid Association for Lutherans and Bethlehem Lutheran church serving in many different capacities. For over 15 years Nolan was instrumental in fund raising for Bethlehem's school athletic and music programs by organizing annual fish and chicken dinners. Later as a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church he served as an Elder and worked part time as a custodian. For years he and Connie made many friends at Azar's in Waynedale.
Nolan dedicated many years to the McMillan Park Lions Club and was District 25-B Cabinet Secretary and then District Governor, 1986-1987. Nolan and his wife Connie, along with their fellow Lions Club members, traveled multiple times taking eye doctors, surgeons, nurses, eyeglasses, medical equipment, ambulances and food to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. He received awards for his ‘Dedication and Hard Work Given to the People of Honduras’; the Melvin Jones Fellow ‘For Dedicated Humanitarian Services’ from Lions Clubs International Foundation (the highest form of recognition conferred by the foundation); the Club De Leones De San Miguel ‘Expression of Gratitude for the Vosh mission to El Salvador in 2012 and again in 2014’; the W. P. Wood Fellow; the ‘Grateful Appreciation from Linares, Mexico 1991’ and was declared an ‘Honorary Citizen of Mandaluyong M. M. Philippines' 1991. Nolan was a Trustee of the Lions Cancer Control Funds of Indiana, Inc. and headed up its fund raising efforts in his district, for the Indiana Lions Gamma Knife Center. For all his work for the Lions he received the Lion's International President's award in 2009. His work with the Lions also included serving with the Student Exchange Program and then because of his work with Vosh he became involved in the Leader Dog program.
Nolan was a much loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all he met. He will be sorely missed by all.
