

Oscar F. Baldwin, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at Grey Stone Nursing Home on Monday December 20, 2021. He was born in Mishawaka, In. on July 31, 1928 to the late Virna and Polyzine Baldwin. After graduating from Mishawaka High School and serving a short time with the U. S. Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Lois M. Pennell on May 29, 1947. Oscar went on to study Fashion Merchandising in Chicago and began a successful career he loved in Woman’s Wear. He worked in specialty shops, department stores, and owned two businesses in Fort Wayne. One in the 60’s and 70’s called Baldwin-Dow with three locations and then later Eye for Clothes. He loved New York City where throughout his life he went to buy Merchandise. Oscar never lost his sense of humor, his love of life, and of work. He enjoyed golf, entertaining, games, and traveling to Mexico. Oscar was blessed to have been married to the love of his life for 67 years and in his words to have “the best five children ever.” He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his children, Paula Johnston, James (Liz) Baldwin, Elizabeth (John), David (Susan), and Debra Baldwin; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Baldwin; and his brother, George Baldwin. A celebration of life ceremony for family and friends will be held soon.
