

PAUL W. LEIPOLD, 70, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015. He was born May 6, 1945, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Paul and Maybelle (Moore) Leipold. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. He retired from G.E. in 2001 with 38 years of service, where he worked as a Maintenance Machinist and was a member of IAM Lodge 70. He was very successful at his job, winning several suggestion awards throughout the years. He enjoyed a wide range of interests including photography, woodworking; model trains; listening to music; flower landscaping; and if anything was broke, he had the tools and the knowledge to fix it. He was passionate about Fort Wayne history and until his recent illness had been involved in the G.E. Legacy Meetings. He always read the comics, loved all toys and had a great sense of humor. Most mornings Paul could be found having breakfast at Halls or Azars with his friends. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Kathleen (DeVries) Leipold; daughter, Suzy Leipold (fiance, Mark Maple); son, Mark (Maria Arapios) Leipold; granddaughters, Jessica and Calista Leipold; step-granddaughters, Alyssa Sponseller and Maytal Karayoff; and step-grandson, Sean Karayoff. He was preceded in death by his half sister, Gertrude Robertson. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, (IN 46819) with calling one hour prior.
