

It is with great sadness that the family of Petar Micko Najdeski, 87, of Fort Wayne, announce his passing on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born on September 27, 1937 in Slatino, Macedonia, a son of the late Micko and Cveta Jaferovski. He excelled in school and would become a Professor in Resen, Macedonia where he would meet his partner for life, Ivanka, and later romantically elope on August 28, 1965. Together, they immigrated to the United States with their eldest son, Orfej, in 1970. He then worked as a Physical Therapist at St Joe Hospital, and later retired as a Chemist with the City of Fort Wayne Filtration Department. He was a member at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Fort Wayne. Petar was an integral part of creating a soccer community in Fort Wayne - from training to coaching, reffing and playing. He was a soccer coach from the time his three children were young to later at Canterbury School, as well as at Indiana Tech. Most cherished to him was his family - he found great joy and pride in his immediate and extended family, who he assisted in bringing to the US over the years. He will be forever be remembered as a handsome, spirited coach, an adoring father, and a cherished individual who touched so many lives. Surviving family include his wife of, 59 years, Ivanka Najdeski; son, Orfej Petar Najdeski; daughter, Makedonka (Nikola) Karagule; daughter-in-law, Sarah Najdeski; and grandchildren, Emma Najdeski, Jack Najdeski, and Simona Karagule. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son, Henry Petar Najdeski; and one sister and four brothers. We ask that you remember him for the way he made you feel, the way he touched your life, and the way he lived his long life. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Cathedral, 3535 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 5-7pm on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the church. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, immediately following funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry Petar Najdeski Scholarship Fund (Canterbury School) or to St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Cathedral.
