

Peter Eugene "Gene" Rutsey of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on May 6, 2018. Gene was born to Peter John and Lucy (Russo) Rutsey on January 7, 1933 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He served his country during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Detroit. He owned a successful painting company and had a 25 year career as a real estate appraiser. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy Rutsey; children, Mark (Tonja) Rutsey, Keith (Amber) Rutsey, Lori (Chris) Will, Scott Rutsey; grandchildren, Lauren Rutsey, Alyssa Rutsey, Lianna (Chris) Rutsey, Jared Rutsey, Katelyn Rutsey, Jessica (Logan) Jost, Alexa Will, Reese Will, Teswin Will, TJ Will, Theo Will; great-grandchildren, Elise Jordan, Elliot Haselhorst; nieces and nephews, Cathleen Rutsey, Barbara Rutsey-Foran, Michelle Meyer, Buddy Angelus, Jason Angelus, Melissa Weiss; sister-in-law Edna Rutsey; and brother-in-law, Albert (Connie) Angelus. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Patrick Rutsey. Gene was known for his glad generosity, his humble selflessness, and a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome in his home and family. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, but his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who loved him.
