Phyllis J. Carter, 93, of Ellenton, Florida, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Born on June 24, 1929, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Marjorie M. (nee Robinette) Moss.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Dee Ann (Charles) Cook, David (Jan) Carter, Dawn (Dan) Symonds, and Dan (Ron) Carter; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and brother, Jerry Moss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Carter; great-grandsons, Mitchel Hammon, and Jace Symonds.
A funeral service to honor Phyllis' life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 18, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
