Raymond Lavern Bahler, 94, entered the presence of our Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:52 a.m. in the Skilled Nursing unit at Denton Village by Pure Health in Denton, Texas. He was born February 7, 1932, in Remington, Indiana into a large family which had a farm three miles down the road from his high school sweetheart and wife-to-be, Carolyn Frey. She preceded him in death by 15 years. Ray attended school in Remington, was married on March 9, 1952, and then was called up to the Army for the conflict in Korea. For 16 months, he served in the Medical Corps and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Three surviving daughters were born to Ray & Carolyn: Dona (Larry) Davidhizar of Sarasota, FL; Marcia (Randy) Shuffield of Flower Mound, TX; and Nancy (Paul) Davidhizar of Jonesborough, TN.
The daughters were honors graduates of New Haven High School, attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and other colleges to earn teaching degrees. Eventually, Ray moved his family off the farm to New Haven, Indiana. He was employed by Erie Haven Ready Mix for 32 years, moving up from dispatcher of trucks to the VP of Commercial Sales in his later years there, retiring in 1995. He acquired his Indiana Real Estate Brokers License in 1980 and used this when he retired and became the New Haven Specialist with Granite Ridge Builders and top salesman of new homes.
Extended family that survives Ray are three siblings: Walter Bahler of Remington, IN; Betty Zimmerman of Atlanta, GA; and Viola Stoller of Wolcott, IN. He is also survived by his 10 Texas-born grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is at D.O. McComb & Sons - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana at 1:00 PM, with calling two hours prior on March 27, 2026. Burial will take place in Concordia Cemetery of Fort Wayne.
