

Richard Lincoln Harrold, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully July 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 12, 1936, in Churubusco, IN, a son of the late Orval and Opal Harrold. Richard lived a life marked by deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was first married to Nancy (Zinn) Harrold, with whom he shared a loving marriage until her passing in 1999. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and Richard cared for her through her illness with great devotion and compassion. After a time, Richard found love again and was blessed to remarry Mary “Cyd” Harrold in 2002, who brought renewed joy and companionship into his life. Their years together were filled with laughter, travel, and shared faith. Richard was the proud father of Lorrie Walton, Richard “Rich” (Kimberly) Harrold, and Amanda (John Schafer) Harrold; a beloved grandfather to Jacob Walton and Joseph (Hannah) Walton; and great grandfather to Graham Walton. He was a stepfather to Kris (Greg) Perigo, Ellen (Ken Seigel) Roemke, and Rick (Debbi) Roemke, five step grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren. He was a steady presence in their lives, always ready with wise advice, warm hugs, and a story to share. Family was his greatest treasure, and he built his life around their happiness. He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and the quiet generosity that touched so many lives. Shortly after graduating from Churubusco High School, Richard joined the Army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning to the U.S.A., Richard obtained an accounting degree from Indiana University then secured employment at Dana Corporation where he worked for 40 years. Richard was admired by his colleagues and community. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his stepmother, Glenny Harrold; his first wife, Nancy Harrold; brother, Ronald Harrold; sister Joanne Platt; and stepson, Brad Roemke. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at The Chapel, 2505 West Hamilton Road, Fort Wayne, IN with a visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the church. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his memory to Stillwater Hospice, The Chapel, or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
