

Richard W. Hess, 86, ended his long battle with Parkinson's, February 13, 2018 and is finally at peace in the fullness of God's grace. He was born on April 14, 1931 in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of the late Lawrence and Clara Hess. Dick served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Dick was the Founder and President of Indiana Fluid Power for 24 years until his retirement in 2000. Dick had many accomplishments including; being the 1998 Northern Indiana Entrepreneur of the year finalist, Top 25 Forbes Small Business Distributors of 1992, and President of Edgewood Industrial Park Association. Dick's memberships included the National Distributors Council for Parker Hannifin, National Wholesale Distributors and Fluidpower Distributors Association, and being a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Dick was on the Board of Directors for Concordia Lutheran High School and Board of Directors for Martin Fischer Foundation, (now part of the Concordia Lutheran Educational Foundation.) He served many positions and roles at Holy Cross over the years. He was a member of the Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club, and Pine Valley Country Club. His hobbies included reading, golf, travel, woodworking, fishing, boating, and water skiing. Dick enjoyed spending the winter months in Sarasota and The Villages in Florida. Playing bridge, euchre, and Rummikub with friends were pasttimes he very much enjoyed. Dick and Marcie also enjoyed spending summer months at their vacation home at Coldwater Lake, MI. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Marcie Hess; children, Michael (Mary) Hess of Bellingham, WA, Laurie (Keith) Wells of Fort Wayne, IN, Dave (Kay) Hess of Satellite Beach, FL; grandchildren, Kristen, Angela, Lucas (Megan), Caitlin, Chelsea, Cheney, Meleah; great-grandson, Callum; step-grandchildren, AmyRose (Garrett), Leilani (Eric), Holly (John), Josiah (Brianna), Estee (Matt), Hannah, and Lilyanna; step-great-grandchildren; Micah, Elsie, Dylann; sisters, Sue Witte, and Judy (Hank) Kiess. Richard was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark Richard Hess. Funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, February 19, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church 3425 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will be held from 2-6pm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley, 1325 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Burial will take place in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia High School Fischer Foundation-Concordia Lutheran Educational Foundation, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Worship Anew, and Turnstone- Parkinson's Foundation Support Fund.
