Richard "Rick" Jay Hockenberry Jr.

Richard "Rick" Jay Hockenberry Jr., age 66 of Fort Wayne, Ind. passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022. He was born on August 8, 1956 to the late Richard J. Hockenberry Sr. and Martha J. Wilkerson Avis. Rick is remembered for being a wonderful cook, who couldn’t share his recipes because of his own personal touches. He made the best biscuits and gravy, potato salad, and baked beans. Rick loved watching wrestling and football, old cartoons, and enjoyed putting together model cars. He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Carolyn S. "Sue" Hockenberry, with whom he more spent than forty years; children, Claude Sweazey of Portland, Ind., Arif (Kari) Mohammed of Fort Wayne, Trina Riley of Fort Wayne, Triva (Leo II) Steffen of Spencerville, Ind., Jason (Ian) Hoffman of Fort Wayne, Jessica (Jacob) Baker of Fort Wayne, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings William (Tina) Hockenberry, David (Laura) Hockenberry, Martha (Mel) DeFord, Betty (Terry) Davis, Nathan (Sara) Hockenberry Sr., and Nicole (Jeff) Hosler, their children and grandchildren along with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rick was predeceased by his children, Imogene (Marie) Hockenberry and Richard (Ricky) Hockenberry III; sister Brenda Hockenberry Gahl; and niece Amanda (Mandei) Shroyer. Funeral Service is 11:00 am Friday, October 28, 2022 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Mungovan, 2114 S Calhoun St, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior.
