Rick spent his life as a jack of all trades, spending his career primarily at Trinity English Lutheran Church. He loved music, woodworking, golf, and pool. He loved Kay, his wife of 44 years, more than anything. He loved his family and friends, and life, and he loved having a good time. To him, a dad joke was the best joke, and we all continue to quote these and pass them on to our own children.
It’s hard to condense his life into a few paragraphs, as he led a full and happy life, and we have so many good things to say about him. He was the backbone of his family, and he was a loyal friend. He touched all of our hearts and will be sorely and greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Carrie (Adam), Travis, Ryan "Taylor" (Staci), and Matthew (Jenny). He had 9 grandchildren and 4 step- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland; mother, Mary Ann; and brother, Mark.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation two hours prior.
Memorials may be made to Trinity English Lutheran Church or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research.
