Rita Marie Haifley, 100, passed away June 24, 2024, at her home in Roanoke, IN. She was born April 1, 1924, in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Berghoff) Ehrman. She graduated from
Central Catholic High School in 1942. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother and homemaker. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodality in Roanoke, IN.
Rita is survived by her children, Mary (Charles) Little of Wolcottville, IN; Debbie (Rex) Johnson of Huntington, IN; Martha Smith, Patricia (Philip) Didier, Rita (Kevin) Donley, all of Fort Wayne, IN; James (Julie) Haifley of Roanoke, IN; John (Ellen) Haifley of Spencerville, IN; 28 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Eugene B. Haifley; son-in-law, Mike Houser; son-in-law, Tom Smith; three brothers, five sister in-laws, two brother in-laws; and great granddaughter Abbie Little.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Monday July 1, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation also from 2-5 pm with a Rosary at 5:00 pm, Sunday June 30, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Fr. Terry Coonan officiating. Burial immediately following mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
