Rita Marie Safford

Rita Marie Safford, 89, of Fort Wayne passed away on June 30, 2018. She was born to the late Anthony and Marie Picker on July 4, 1928. Rita retired from GTE after working over 30 years. Rita is survived by her children, Richard (Christine) Safford, Carol (Robert) Cantrell, and Michael (Kay) Safford; grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Jester, Kimberly (Scott) Spaulding, Scott (Courtney) Safford, Tara (Steve) Humphrey, Brenda Cantrell, Leslie (Lucas) Augustyniak, Miranda (Jason) Stuller, Michael Safford II, and Andrew (Sara) Safford; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Lawrence; and brother, Anthony Picker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Safford; and sisters, Geraldine and Mary Picker. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 6:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819). Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana.
