Robert G Derickson

Robert G. “Bob” Derickson, 80, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 22, 1931 in Fort Wayne to the late Edward and Elsie (Hughes) Derickson. He retired from Plumbers & Steamfitters, Local 166. He was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel. He was a member at VFW 10006 and American Legion Post 241 after serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a quiet hard working man who enjoyed fishing, touring the country side, and spending time with his family. Surviving family include his wife of 57 years, Charlene Derickson of Fort Wayne; children, Gary Derickson(Connie) of Fort Wayne, Stephen Derickson of Fort Wayne, Gregory (Laurel) Derickson of Hoagland, Christine (Greg) Till of Fort Wayne, Barbara (Barry) Melcher of Decatur, Becky (Steve) Burns of Markle; 22 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ken, Harold, Don, Doyle, and Marceil; and grandchildren, Kirsten and Chad.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old US 27 South, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to services. Visitation will also be from 1-5 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hessen Cassel. Memorials may be made to Masses or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
