

Rob Ellis, 75, of Venice, Florida and formerly from Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 17, 2026. Born on August 8, 1950, he dedicated his life to his church, family, and his work, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and commitment. He was always very generous helping those around him as much as he could.
Rob graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1968 and continued his education in accounting at Indiana University. For 53 years, Rob worked, managed, and became the Owner / President of the family business, Ellison Bakery, until he retired in 2017. In 2019, Rob and Cindy then moved to Florida, where he aspired to live and retire.
Rob’s interests included golf, cheering on his grandkids in their activities, spending time at their house on Big Long Lake, grabbing dinner at Coney Island, and attending breakfast club with the guys before moving to Florida. In Florida, he spent much time enjoying their pool and spending time with the neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cinthia (Cindy). His children, Jodie (Jeff) Boyer, Jon (Martha) Ellis, Jennifer (Tim) Stoffel, and Jeremy (Martha) Ellis. His stepchildren, Brian (Jenny Holcomb) Hoffman, Adam (Tiffany) Hoffman, and Jill (John) Thorn. His grandchildren, Jairus (Tiffany) Boyer, Jaydon Boyer, Josiah Boyer, Madison Ellis, Jack Ellis, Bryce Howard, Ace Howard, Paxton Howard, Isabelle Ellis, and Luke Ellis. His step-grandchildren Hannah Hoffman, Hunter (Skilar) Hoffman, Lahna Thorn, and Brecken Thorn. A great-grandson, Easton Boyer, and step-great-granddaughter, Raelynn Hoffman. Rob is also survived by his sister, Bobby (Richard) Smith and his brother Brian (Trish) Ellis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Tillie Ellis, and a grandson, Michael Robert Ellis.
Funeral arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Home with services at The Chapel on West Hamilton Road. Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at 11:00 with a viewing opportunity from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral.
As a memorial, donations to The Chapel or Tidewell Hospice (Tidewell.org) would be his desire.
