

Roberta E. Springer, 87, formerly of Ossian, passed away November 22, 2013. She was born on June 10, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Robert and Mary (Chizek) Stella. She graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a degree in Education. She was a homemaker and co-owner and co-operator of Springer Orchard. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was a former volunteer at Lutheran Hospital and enjoyed spending her time creating crafts, reading, and going to her grandchildren’s activities. She was also very proud to have donated over 8 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Surviving family include her daughters, Carla (Bill) Scott of Fort Wayne and Mariann (Chris) Jones of Sunnyvale, CA; sons, Branch (Jackie) Springer of Perrysburg, OH, Jay (Rebecca) Springer of Munroe Falls, OH, and Randy (Renee) Springer of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 1 niece and 2 great nieces. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Raymond C. Springer in 2008; a brother, Robert Stella, and a niece. A funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be 2-6 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or American Red Cross.
