He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and humor touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rita; sons, Brian (Mary) and Jeff (Leah); daughter, Sarah; and his cherished grandchildren, Sierra, Delilah, and Miles. Roger is also survived by his sister Janet, brother Tom, and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Poitras; and his brother, Don Poitras.
Roger dedicated over 40 years of service to NIPSCO, where his hard work and loyalty earned him the respect of his colleagues and community. After retirement, he found great joy pursuing his true passion—cooking at Cedar Creek, where he shared good food and great company with friends old and new.
A lifelong sports fan, Roger’s love of the Colts, IU athletics, and a good round of golf were well known to all who loved him.
A Memorial Gathering will be on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blood Cancer United or the Alzheimer’s Association.
