Ronald Lee Stabler 89, passed away February 11, 2024, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. Ron had been a resident of the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, IN. He was born January 22, 1936, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of John Mason and Celia Cecil (nee Price) Stabler.
He served his country in the US Army and US Air Force as a Staff Sgt from 1958-1965.
Ron was a longtime and faithful employee of D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes of Fort Wayne. He worked in the office until retirement and then worked several years as a funeral assistant.
Ron’s memberships included St. John Lutheran Church. Summit City Lodge #170 F&AM Worshipful Master 1979, & Mizpah Shrine 1981; Trinity Chapter #576 O.E.S. Worthy Patron & Indiana Grand Chap. O.E.S. Worthy Grand Patron 1998-1999.
Ron was made an Entered Apprentice on March 10, 1967, advanced to a Fellowcraft, on March 17 1967, and raised to the Sublime degree of a Master Mason on March 25, 1967. He first served Summit City Masonic Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1971 and also served as Worshipful Master in 1979. He was created a Mizpah Shriner on May 18, 1968. He became the Commander of the Mizpah Shrine Legion of Honor in 1981.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Beth Ann (Jeff) Bauer of Uniontown, OH; Brenda Stettler of Fort Wayne, IN; Bari (Mike) Robinson of Garrett, IN; Brian (Carla) Fort of Montague, MI; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Neva Jean Stabler, January 5, 2024.
Funeral Service for Ron will be 4:00 pm Thursday, February 20, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN with visitation from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Lodge services will begin at 3:00 pm and include, Order of the Eastern Star, Mizpah Shrine and Summit City Masonic Lodge #170. Private Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
