Rose Ann Gaskill, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on February 3, 2026 at Sage Bluff Health & Rehab Center. She was born on June 3, 1932 in Columbia City, Indiana to parents Arthur Sausaman and Flora (Clover) Sausaman. She attended Wiley High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, graduating in 1950. She then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Indiana State University.
Rose then moved to Fort Wayne, where she began a teaching career in Fort Wayne Community Schools, much of which was at Bloomingdale Elementary School. She taught first grade and reading readiness for 36 years; during that period of time she also completed her Master's Degree in Education at the University of St. Francis. She then founded and ran the Horse Around Town horse and carriage business for a number of years before selling that and going to work in a local law firm in an administrative role to complete her career.
Surviving are her eldest son, Kent Gaskill of Canton, Georgia; and her three grandchildren, Ellie Gaskill of Indianapolis, IN, Arthur Gaskill of Cumming, GA, and Claire Gaskill of Alpharetta, GA. Preceding her in death were her husband, John Gaskill of Fort Wayne, IN; son Timothy Gaskill of Fort Wayne, IN; and daughter-in-law Peggy Gaskill, also of Fort Wayne, IN.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804, with visitation two hours prior.
