She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband Ray of 58 years and her siblings, George M. Shammo, Alice Withrich, Leah M. Shammo.
Ruth attended Dalton High School where she was active in the marching band. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Loomis on September 25, 1955. They had three children, Lowell “Sam” Loomis, Malinda “Lindy” Eversole and Lori Munding. They moved to Fort Wayne where she worked at Portage Middle School and Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and at The Flower Nook as partner/owner from which she retired in 2010. She was also a member at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her brother Hiram Shammo, her children: Lowell “Sam” (Gina) Loomis, Malinda “Lindy” (Allen Meredith) Eversole and Lori (Charles Lanz) Munding. She has several grandchildren: Brice (Jessica) Eversole, Abbie (Jeff) Sutton, Dustin Loomis, Ashley (R. Tyler) Moreland, Natalie (Brandt) Meredith. She has nine great-grandchildren: Kaylee Sutton, Austin Sutton, Dillon Sutton, Gavin Sutton, Wesley Moreland, Ada Moreland, Ray Meredith, and Rory Meredith, Alia Mullen.
Her infectious smile, love for babies, coconut cream pie, and grandma cookies will be sorely missed. If you showed up hungry and left hungry, that was your fault. Her love for her family was immeasurable.
A Celebration of life will be held1:00PM Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church 2417 Getz Road (46804) with visitation 2 hours prior to service. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Cedar Creek – Fort Wayne Assisted Living or Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Ruth’s memory.
