Ruth E. Marquart, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was born January 14, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Joseph and Pearl Barnett. On July 13, 1946 Ruth married Warren Marquart. For her entire career, Ruth was the Librarian at South Wayne Elementary School. Ruth was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church for more than 20 years and participated in the bell choir and the women's circle within the church. She volunteered at Matthew 25 for many years. She enjoyed aqua aerobics, bowling, and doing tai chi. Ruth also had a passion for taking walks with friends, doing word search, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Ruth’s life focus was her family. She shared her love of music, reading, and children, and taught her family by example to be loving people. She is survived by her children, Marietta (Richard) Fuess, Beth (Michael) Berghoff, Marcus (Donna) Marquart, Tim (MaryKay) Marquart and Jenny (Guy) Rickard; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in passing was her husband, Warren Marquart; son, George Marquart; daughters, Wendy Noble and Sara Walsh; granddaughter Leah Ward; brothers, Charles, Robert, and J. Warren Barnett; and sisters, Mary Lu Lang, Anne Schmidt, and Mae Slater. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation beginning at 11am.
