Ruth W. Nicolet, 101, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Lutheran Life Villages. She was born January 4, 1923 in Fort Wayne to the late William C. and Bertha (Kruse) Dreyer. Ruth served her country and her community as an Army nurse and a school nurse, eventually retiring from Fort Wayne Community Schools. She had a strong faith and was a long-time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she also shared her beautiful quilting and sewing talents at the church quilters group. Ruth leaves behind many quilts, bags, and home decorations lovingly stitched by her hands. Ruth loved her family. While raising two daughters with her husband, Bob, and enjoying her nieces and nephews, she cherished her summers at Clear Lake, Indiana. Alongside her family, Ruth was an expert Euchre player, never missing an opportunity to play a hand and win the game. Surviving are her grandchildren, Patrick (Megan) Hughes, Christopher (Tracy) Hughes, Matthew Duncan, and Kristen Duncan; great grandchildren, Zach, Evelyn, Alex, Ben, Eddie, Annie and Emma; and son-in-law, Doug Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Nicolet; daughters, Karen Hughes and Kaylene Duncan; and sisters, Helen Gunkler and Norma Howard. A ceremony with words of remembrance will be on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 with gathering to begin at 10:00 AM.
