Saundra (Sandy) L. Swinford

Saundra (Sandy) L. Swinford, 72, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Parkview Hospice Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born November 12, 1949 in Milan, Indiana, she lived the first part of her life in Rising Sun, Indiana where she met and married her high school classmate Marvin (Frank) Swinford. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Fort Wayne where they have happily lived since.

Sandy worked for Fort Wayne Community schools in several capacities as a secretary, classroom assistant, and Athletic Secretary at Wayne High School. Her favorite times were when she was a stay-at-home mom and grandmother. Sandy was an incredible cook, seamstress, and loved supporting her family at any event they were a part of. She also had several dogs, loved being involved at her church, and enjoyed riding bicycles with her husband.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Frank Swinford; son, Adam (Jessica) Swinford of Fremont IN; daughter Adrienne Cripe of Fort Wayne IN; grandchildren, Haylea, Peyton, Chase, Courtney; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and an army of close friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Reagan Swinford; as well as her parents Earl (Iva) Courtney Sr., brothers, Don Courtney, Earl Courtney Jr., Paul Courtney; and a sister, Betty Works.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor Sandy's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Sonrise at Aboite United Methodist Church, 10125 Illinois Road, with calling beginning at 12:30 pm, until time of service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
