Sharon Louise (Walter) Martin, of Fort Wayne, died on October 22, 2020, at Golden Years Homestead after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born at home on March 31, 1945 in North Manchester, Indiana, the fourth of five children born to Victor and Ruth (Tschantz) Walter. She graduated from North Manchester High School in 1963. She met Charles Martin and they were married on April 17, 1965. They became parents of twins, Kimberly and Keith, in May of 1967. Sharon spent the majority of her working years as a LPN at Golden Years Homestead. She worked at Golden Years for more than 30 years, retiring in 2007. Sharon enjoyed vacationing to many different places with her husband over the years, including national parks, historical sites, and Walt Disney World. She hosted holiday parties at her home for many years, including an annual New Year’s Eve party with her extended family. She enjoyed attending local sports games, musicals, and concerts. She was passionate about gardening, growing both flowers and fruits and vegetables in her backyard. She very much valued the friends and family in her life. Her loved ones will remember her as warm and fun. They will remember the events that she hosted and the love and laughter that she heartily shared with everyone. She was kind to everyone that she came across. She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Kimberly (Vincent) Noga, of Fort Wayne, and Keith (Brandi) Martin, of Leo; grandchildren, Alicia Batchelder of Fort Wayne, Cody (Alyssa Nedbal) Batchelder, of Asheville, North Carolina, Gregory (Erin) Dague, of Fishers, Indiana, Jordan Martin, of Leo, Kailey Dague, of Fort Wayne, and Jared Martin, of Leo; five great grandchildren; her sister, Kay Capistrano, of California, and brother Donald (Mary) Walter, of Franklin, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kendall Walter, and sister, Catherine Gilbert. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Maplewood Park (4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815) at 1:00 pm with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Indiana Chapter - Alzheimer's Association or Erin's House for Grieving Children.
