Captain Doyle had been a member of Aboite Fire Department for 10 years. As the son of a paid firefighter, he grew up being involved with the fire service and followed in his dad's footsteps as both an officer and instructor. Never more than a phone call away, friends and fellow fire fighters describe Shawn as a loving, caring person, always willing to help day or night. He was dedicated to teamwork, honest, trustworthy and hardworking, always looking for opportunities to serve both the fire department and the community. Although often found at the fire house talking for hours about new firefighting techniques, no matter the task, if friends were doing it, he'd be there!
Aboite command plans to retire Shawn's number, Fire 186, allowing it to stay with him forever.
Survivors include sister, Krista (Skyler Hill) Doyle; aunts, Debbie (Paul) Diehl, Julie (Ron) Oberley, Diane (Scott) Marks; uncles, Tom (Cindy) Lonergan, Jim Tomlinson, Pat (Colleen) Doyle, Andy Doyle, Joe (Chasity Roser) Doyle. Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Maxine Doyle along with Jack and Delores Tomlinson.
