Mrs. Martin always welcomed me into her home with warmth and food! A beautiful person who raised amazing daughters.

Blessings to you all at this time and always. The Parting Cup is a difficult toast. Shirley was one who shone through with a quick smile and laughter, often bringing a smile from others. Joy to her!
To my regret, I will be unable to attend services, but hope to be at internment on Thursday.

I will always remember our lunches together after bible study at Cosmos. For the longest time, Shirley  got the Vegas Waffle loaded with strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream. It put a smile on all of our faces. We shared a lot of wonderful conversations about our families and lives and Shirley always led the grace before we all ate. I think everyone working in Cosmos had to know her by name.

I first met Shirley at the church when she was helping with Childcare and Children's ministries and she took care of my kids for many years.  I was excited when she started attending bible study with me and she was always good about encouraging others to join us and was always willing to tell her faith stories from the past and share her many years of knowledge with all of us. She had a servant heart and was always helping others and putting their needs above her own. She seemed to know everyone in the church personally . I  felt blessed when she just called me to check in and see how I was doing. 

I will miss her deeply, but can't help but think how happy she must be now to be rejoicing with her Savior free from any hurt or pain. I will remember her each time I think of Philippians 4:6-7. She spoke often about these being her life verses and what she went to any time she was troubled or afraid. 

I will be thinking of all of you and praying that God comforts you with wonderful memories of times spent with her.

Shirley was the first person we met when we started to attend St. Joseph Church in 1986. We dropped off our two little girls for child care that first day and Shirley was there.  Shirley was always so friendly and welcoming to all.  I've always enjoyed being with Shirley in Bible Study and watching her order the "Vegas Waffle" at Cosmos afterwards. She was a joy to be around.
