

He graduated from North Side High School and earned an associate degree in electronic engineering technology and a bachelor’s degree in electronic manufacturing technology from ITT. He taught electronics at Ivy Tech and was president of the electronics association at the college. He was the founder and owner of Summit City Radio for over 20 yrs. Steve was fortunate to learn about television technology from inventor Philo T. Farnsworth and repaired TVs for Red Rarick at a young age. He also worked for several local radio stations repairing transmitters. He proudly served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969 and was shot during his service while he was stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam War.
Steve had a remarkable gift where he could just look at an engine or machine and was able to explain how it worked and how to fix it. In retirement, he enjoyed playing cards, riding in his golf cart and going to coffee with friends (Liars Club).
He is survived by wife Kathryn Wright; children, Steven (Laura) Wright II and Angela (Brian) Lemert; stepchildren, Andrew (Tammy) Nash and Kelly (Craig) Hampton; grandchildren, Casey & Natalie Wright, Jackson & Joseph Lemert; step-grandchildren, Derek & Tyson Nash, Phineas & Hank Hampton, Courtney (David) Gibson, and Brittany Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Waneta Wagner.
A celebration of life and time of sharing will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2025, followed by Army Honors at D.O. McComb and Sons, Pine Valley Park, Funeral Home - 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation 2 hours prior. Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
