

Sylvester Hill, Jr., 80, of Fort Wayne departed this life on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Parkview Hospital. He was born on January 5, 1934 to the late Sylvester and Lucy (Caldwell) Hill. Sylvester attended Central High School prior to joining the United States Airforce. He was honorably discharged after 21 years, serving during the Korea Conflict and Vietnam War. He worked at International Harvester and retired from the Fort Wayne Housing Authority. He was affectionately called Goony, Sonny, or Sly by friends and family. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, motorcycles. He will be remebereded for being fun loving and his grand sense of humor. He is survived by his children from his marriage to Rose (Fitzhugh) Hill; four sons, Michael, Keith (Gail), Happy (Karen) James Hill; two daughters, Sherri Spencer and Twylla (Michael) Lewis; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Jerry (Yvonne) and Wilbert Hill; two sisters, Willa Campbell, and Annie Johnson along with nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Richard, Edward, Cornelius, and Kenneth Hill; one sister, Bonnie Barnes; and one great granddaughter, Alexis Banks. A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association.
