

Ted Archer Jr., age 85 of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 28, 1939, to the late Ted and Dorothy (Runion) Archer. He attended North Side High School and joined the Marine Reserve in 1957, serving active duty in the U.S. Marines from 1959 to 1963. During his military service, he attended the first Aviation Radio Class in San Diego and was stationed in Guantanamo, Cuba, and Hawaii.
In 1963, Ted married the love of his life, Susan (Wegerer) Archer. They met in California while working at Pacific Bell. They moved to Fort Wayne Indiana to raise their family. Ted's career spanned several fields, starting on his own attending car auctions and then became a car salesman at Hefner Chevrolet before transitioning to real estate. He worked for Wayne Beer Realty and Rousseau Realty, eventually founding his own businesses, Archer Realty and NuHouse, Inc., and TED Auto.
Ted and Susan enjoyed a fulfilling life together. They left Fort Wayne in ’87 to spend 36 years in Sarasota and Myakka, Florida, before returning to Fort Wayne in 2022. Ted was known for his commitment, work ethic, and unwavering support for his family. Ted cherished, time with family, cooking, working on the property, his friendships and was often seen socializing at the local pubs or Don Hall’s having a coffee.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Susan, who says, “I still love him!” He leaves behind his son Eric Archer (Richard Cordova), daughter Stephanie (Peter) Beesley (formerly Tschannen), brother Mike (Frankie) Archer, sister Mary Ann (Archer) Lemons, and grandchildren Jacob (Nicole) Tschannen, Brandon Tschannen, Sarah (Caleb) Bertsch, as well as step-grandchildren Adriane and Joshua Tschannen. He was also a proud great-grandfather to nine.
Ted is preceded in death by his younger brother Richard Archer.
A man of great character, Ted was not perfect, but he always did his best. He supported those he loved and shared both his achievements and vulnerabilities. He will be dearly missed but will forever be remembered for the love and strength he brought to his family and friends. Ted is at peace and wishes that for all.
