Terry Kienzle, 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on June 11, 1942, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Carl Christian and Amber Jean (McCormick) Kienzle.
Terry was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he attended grade school and faithfully served throughout his life by serving on the School Board, Church Council, Property Committee and a variety of committees over the years.
After graduating from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree, Terry began his career at Maloley’s Grocery Store, where he had worked since high school. He went on to serve as Director of Store Engineering and Advertising for Maloley’s. Later, he worked for Tippman Refrigeration before starting his own business, TDK Store Fixtures, where he combined his creativity and work ethic to build a lasting legacy.
Terry proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 4, 1967, to May 8, 1969, stationed with the Eighth Army in South Korea. He was honorably discharged in October 1973.
Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He found joy in family gatherings, playing with his grandchildren, and with his ornery personality teasing those he loved the most. He loved going to museums and reading every exhibit description. His humor, warmth, and mischievous spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Terry’s passion for woodworking and design was evident in the two home remodels he completed and in his many contributions to maintenance projects at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Knoblauch) Kienzle; his children, Richard “Ric” Kienzle and wife Sherry, and Cheryl Kienzle; grandchildren Brittany (JT Biggs) Biggs, Andrew Weidemeier, Grey Kienzle, and Sydney Kienzle; great-grandchildren Auggie Biggs and Monte Biggs; and his sister Judy Burns.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Dean, Carl David, Diane Smith, Steve, and Jimmy.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN, 46802, with visitation two hours prior.
Arrangements entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN, 46805.
