Tomjari "Jari" Tanner-Starks Brown, 45, of Indianapolis passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019. He was born on January 15, 1974 in Seattle, Washington, a son of the late Thomas L. Starks and Yvonne (Tanner) Starks who survives. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seattle University in 1995 and his Masters in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix in 1999. He worked as a college professor at Harrison College and most recently at Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis. He served as president of Alumni Association for University of Phoenix and was the president of Watson Park Neighborhood Association in Indianapolis. He will be remembered for his love of horror movies and Scooby-Doo. Surviving family include his spouse, David Brown, who he has been together with since February 6, 1998; whom he married on November 30, 2003 in Canada, and who he renewed his vows with in the State of Indiana on June 6, 2014; mother, Yvonne Starks; his nephew whom he considered a son, Traemel Miller; son, Travis (Melissa) Brown; daughter, Kimberly (Nick) Rumschlag; brother, Thomas L.T. Starks; seven grandchildren, Drew, Ariavne, Skyler, Ian, Neegan, Breck, and Kai; one great grandson, Wesley; uncles, Frank and George Tanner ; aunts, Tanya and Ida Tanner; cousins, Mila and Kimberly Tanner; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was preceded in passing by his son, Christopher Brown. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
