

Vernon Charles Deutsch, 93, of Fort Wayne, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was born on October 30, 1932, in Evansville, IN, the son of the late Edward William and Louise Lula Deutsch (Mossburg).
Vern married the love of his life, T. Delores "Dee" Williams, November 22, 1951, at the General Baptist Church in Owensville, IN. Vern was a devoted father and grandfather who always put his faith and family first. He set a steadfast example of what it means to be a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to anyone that he met. Vern loved to spend time with his family and his church, and he fully applied his faith to everything that he did.
Vern earned his bachelor’s in theology from Oakland City University, Oakland City, IN. He started his working career running the family farm at the age of 14 and later worked as the manager at Robert Hall Clothing Store for 11 years. Professionally, Vern earned his credentials and became a very successful insurance agent, manager, director and ultimately a field executive with State Farm Insurance Company for 32 years. He retired from State Farm Insurance in 2000.
Vern was a member of Sonrise Church, as well as a volunteer, and a member of the Lions Club, NALU Staff and a Consultant for the Methodist Foundation.
He is survived by his son, Tony Deutsch, daughter, Cindy (Greg) Tieman and son-in-law, Kurt Simerman all of Fort Wayne, IN along with 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Vern was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, T. Delores "Dee" Deutsch, daughter, Pamela K. Simerman, infant son, Michael Lewis Deutsch, grandson, Chadrick Glenn Deutsch, infant great-grandson, Chadrick James, brothers, Edward J. and Alvin Deutsch and sisters Wilma Schauss, Gladys Stevens, Vera Deutsch and a niece Eva Stevens.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Sonrise Church 10125 Illinois Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Committal and burial at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sonrise Church or Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter.
