Walter R. Wattenbarger

Walter R. Wattenbarger, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on July 13, 1944 to the late Walter L. and Sarah J. (Pettey) Wattenbarger in Norman, Arkansas. Mr. Wattenbarger honorably answered his Country’s call and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. On September 16, 1967, at Bethany Presbyterian Church He married Sharon Ladig. Mr. Wattenbarger retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed traveling, the rock and mineral club, tumbling and polishing rocks to give away, the Senior Games, Fort for Fitness, the coin club, and the woodworking club. He was a member of First Assembly Church in Fort Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wattenbarger; children, Jennifer (Steve) Grable, Kathy Wattenbarger and Michael Wattenbarger; grandchildren, Shannon, Tim, Allen and Jonathan; and a sister, Lois Ann Beard. Also preceding him in death were siblings, Lindel Sapp and Leon Wattenbarger. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 4 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
