Wilbur “Duane” Ohmart, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born on January 8, 1937, to Wilbur L. and Gladys U. (Underwood) Ohmart, Duane was a kind-hearted and gentle soul who touched the lives of many.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nancy J. Ohmart. The couple were married on January 4, 1980, and shared 45 wonderful years together before passing just weeks apart—a testament to their enduring love.
A graduate of Wabash High School, Duane enlisted in the United States Army where, in July of 1960, he was transferred into the U.S. Army Ordnance School where he obtained training and recognition in Fire Control Instrument Repair.
He later worked as a supervisor at Cover-All, and eventually retired from Answer Call, where he also served in a supervisory role. After his retirement, Duane enjoyed woodworking, a craft he was especially known for. His beautifully crafted tables made for a furniture company in New Haven, remain a legacy of his skill and dedication.
Duane and Nancy were faithful members of Christ’s Hope Ministries and Church, where they built deep and lasting friendships that remained strong throughout their lives. Their bond with their church family was a source of joy and comfort, lasting until the very end.
Duane is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Ohmart and Alexander Ohmart; his sister, Ann Cussins; nephews, David Cussins and Steve Conant; and niece, Lisa Conant-Nave. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his sons, Scot Ohmart and Eric Ohmart; and his sister, Nancy Conant.
Memorial contributions in Duane’s honor may be made to Christ’s Hope Ministries and Church.
