William enjoyed listening to Blues and Gospel music. He liked fishing in his spare time, dining out, visiting with his relatives out of town and traveling.
William worked at Newark Electronics in Chicago for 17 years and then went on to for Norfolk Railroad until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Tammy McClendon, Steven Jackson, Quenton Hamilton; step-daughter, Barbara McClendon; step-sons, Maurice McClendon and Cedric; step-daughter, Nakia; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Dorothy Prince, Patricia Boyea, Emery McClendon, Michael McClendon, and Kathy Orr; special cousins, George Green, Debra Dial, and Kenneth (Kenny) Reese.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy McClendon sister, Connie Bush.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 with calling one hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne, IN 46805.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Tammy McClendon.
