Tony Ramos was a beloved and kind-hearted hero and a strong leader in several capacities. He was a single father who raised four children, worked as a factory foreman, was a friendly neighbor, a U.S. Army veteran, and an ever-present "Pepo" to his grandkids. He was also a cherished friend.
Tony had diverse hobbies, interests, and skills. He enjoyed watching TV programs such as football, church sermons, The Twilight Zone, the latest news, and many movies. Additionally, Tony was skilled at fixing plumbing and vehicle issues. His favorite hobby, however, was spending time with and taking care of his grandkids and watching them grow up to be the impressive adults they are today. When they were younger, he helped raise them by picking them up from school and watching them until their parents arrived home. He always found a way to be with family, especially if a good meal was involved, like at family events hosted at John & Patty's place or casual dinner at Marisol & Al's or Gabriel & Carmen's home.
Tony often engaged in lengthy conversations in person and on the phone with the many people who loved talking to him. He always had a story to tell, some entertaining, like how his teacher at Brownwood High School claimed a UFO parked in the middle of the highway but was too afraid to tell other adults for fear of losing his job. Tony believed him, though, as he believed in the extra-terrestrial. Tony also loved keeping up with U.S. politics and often discussed it with his grandson Christian, who shared similar political values. More than anything, though, Tony was just happy to hear the voices of and have the company of those who loved him and who he loved.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Eulojia; his siblings, Dan, Margaret, Mary, Alice, and Steve; and (divorced) spouse, Maria Zamora. He is survived by his children Gabriel Ramos, John Anthony Ramos, Marisol Ortega, Robert Daniel Zamora; and his grandchildren Christian Ortega, Noah Ortega, Augustine Ortega, Jacob Ramos, Jennifer Ramos, Daniel Ramos, Luke Ramos, Isaac Ramos, Ariel Ramos, Alina Ramos, Jonathan Ledezma, Alejandra Ledesma, and Crystal Martinez; his brothers, Robert Ramos and Armando Ramos.
