Antoine "Tony" Romel Armstrong was born on February 20, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, to Uleasee Carlton Armstrong and Claudette Reynolds Armstrong. From an early age, Tony showed the heart of a warrior and the spirit of a dreamer, traits that would define his journey through life.
Football became his first stage. He honed his skills in high school, pushed his limits in college at Arizona State and Eastern New Mexico, and eventually caught the attention of the pros. He was invited to training camp with the Seattle Seahawks, and though released, his drive didn't falter. He pursued his passion north of the border with the CFL, suiting up for the British Columbia Lions and Ottawa Rough Riders. He later played in the USFL for the San Antonio Gunslingers, followed by a stint in a semi-pro league in New Orleans, each chapter a testament to his relentless pursuit of greatness.
In 1987, he married and from this union came two sons, Tony II and Philip, building a family rooted in love, resilience, and faith.
In 2003, he was united with his daughter, Tina. Though their bond began later than most, the connection was immediate and enduring, a gift Tony cherished deeply.
Tony's professional journey took another turn in 1992 when he joined FedEx in Los Angeles. That path would lead him back to his Texas roots…first San Antonio, then Dallas. In 1995, while still with FedEx, he launched his first entrepreneurial venture: By Faith Investigation. Just four years later, he took a bold leap of faith, leaving corporate life to found Window Treatments By Tony, a thriving business he would steward for decades.
That same year, his spiritual calling deepened at Agape Christian Center, where he served faithfully as an Armor Bearer and personal security to the senior pastor. This role would pave the way for a life-changing connection to Jerry Savelle Ministries. Enrolling in Jerry Savelle Bible School, his walk with God grew stronger. He was entrusted to serve as Armor Bearer and personal security for Dr. Jerry Savelle, accompanying him on mission trips around the world for over 26 years, spreading faith, strength, and hope wherever he went.
In 2016, He met and years later married his best friend, confidant, and biggest supporter. The beginning of a beautiful love story.
Tony’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his grandsons, Atticus and Deacon, affectionately known as “The Dudes.” Their laughter, energy, and love were the lights of his life.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Uleasee and Claudette Armstrong; Stepson, Bryan Kennard.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and unwavering faith. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheryl; his daughter, Tina Brown; sons, Tony Armstrong II and Philip Armstrong; stepson, Brent Kennard (Fashionette); brothers, Deryl Armstrong (Jaime) and DeAndre' Armstrong (Nanette); nephew, Deryl Armstrong Jr. (Janice); and grandsons, Atticus and Deacon Armstrong.
His life was a living testimony that with faith, determination, and love, anything is possible.
