Mrs. Cantrell taught me in PreK at John Quincy Adams. I am grateful for her teaching and her legacy as I am now an elementary educator! Blessings to her family.

We got a call recently saying that Barbara had passed and wanted to send our sympathies to the family. We were in her Sunday school class at handley Baptist church. She always had a smile and a positive attitude and she will be missed.

Barbara was such a classy, special, and steadfast friend who touched so many lives:  the children she taught, co-workers, neighbors, friends from church, and especially me.  Our team would meet for lunch; 3 hours would pass, and it seemed like only 30 min.  We spent so much time laughing and talking.   I remember how Nancy and you sat with my parents when I had back surgery which lasted 9 hours.  What a special friendship!  Words really can't express the heartfelt sorrow I feel.  Your love for the Lord was boundless.  When faced with obstacles like spending time in an iron lung (polio), CM's plane crash, surviving breast cancer, and losing Chad, you showed strength , courage, and a positive attitude through all these ordeals.  Cara, I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mother.  I know how difficult and painful this time must be for you,  I'm praying that you, Michael, and family are surrounded by God's love, and that He sends you strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.  Please know that I am here for you.  If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call. Love you

I first first met Barbara at our church, The First United Methodist Church of Rockwall. We talked and sat by each other a few times and I felt like she was a dear friend that I just hadn't met yet! I always enjoyed our conversations and most of the time they were about her family and how much she loved and cherished you all. Please accept my deepest sympathies in the loss of your mother, she will be dearly missed.

We became family twenty four years ago through the marriage of Cara and Michael. Through them, we grew together with your beautiful grandchildren, Barbara.
You had always present yourself as a classy beautiful woman at all the countless family gatherings.
Your love and devotion to your grandchildren will forever be carved inside our hearts.
You shall be remembered and missed, Barbara. 
Rest in eternal peace as your family continue to carry on your legacy.

Mrs. Cantrell was my 5th grade music teacher at Littles Elementary. That would have been  1963.  I haven't seen her since but she was a young teacher and a lot more fun and interesting than most of my other teachers . She laughed a lot I remember.  Rest in Peace Mrs Cantrell.

“Clara Belle” and family— As you well know your mother was one of my dearest friends, confidants, and teammates.  Such fantastic memories of visiting together, shopping, laughing, swimming, teaching together  for oh so many wonderful (most of the time!) years bring smiles to my face & heart. You all made me a part of your family and included me in celebrations such as Christmas and Thanksgiving.  Her sense of humor was priceless as was her love for the students she taught.  She taught subjects, yet most importantly she taught how to get along, resolve issues, be fair, and help others when help was needed.  Her faith in our loving Lord was her real strength, providing such steadfastness. 
Remember that your mother is not gone— she is just transformed. You have her spirit with you just like you did when she lived in our sight.  My love and prayers are with you all.  🙏🎈🤗 Jane

I met Barbara at the apartment complex where she lived.  She was a delightful person who always had a smile, even in her pain from polio.  She will be greatly missed.  I pray her family will keep sweet memories of her.

Barbara, you have always been a wonderful person to everyone you have come across since I can remember. Of the great memories I have, one particular one always stands out. It's when you lived in Arlington. And you always allowed all of Cara's friends over for some great pool parties. We always joked about letting the piranhas in the pool. You always had snacks and a warming smile.  You will always be remembered!

I am sadden to hear of Mrs Cantrell’s passing.
I started JB Little Elementary in 1963.
And thrilled to get to the 5th Grade in 1967
And be in her class.  (This was the year your Dad crashed his airplane). Our entire class prayed every day for her and your Dad until he recovered and she came back to class.

She was the most beautiful teacher in the school and everyone adored her and her
Sassy attitude.   I remember her enthusiasm as she taught us Let There Be Peace on Earth
For the end of year Choir program and can still see her directing us with so much energy
And wonderful facial emotions.

I also remember her teaching us that you never abréviate the word Christmas with Xmas. Because it was Jesus’s birthday.

I shared that with my daughter and later my grandchildren.    Something I will never forget.

Last year at our Tate Springs Reunion we were disappointed she couldn’t join us.
However, our friend Pat Whit showed up with a picture of her with a feather in her head from our days in her class.   When things got a little rowdy our we would talk too much she would pull that feather out and stick it in her hair.  We knew Mrs Cantrell was on the warpath and we better settle down.

I don’t know one student who didn’t love her.
She was one of the classiest ladies I had ever seen.  She had the prettiest and most stylish clothes and always looked like a model.

We loved watching he drive up to school in her Cadillac convertibles with that beautiful blond hair tied up in a scarf.   All us girls wanted to look like her when we grew up.

I was so blessed to have know her, been in her class and called her a friend all these years 
I saw her several times over the years and she always remembered me called me by 
She not only impacted my life.  But the lives of all the children she taught for so many years.
I know for sure heave has a beautiful new angel directing the choir. 

What a wonderful legacy she leaves

What a sweet, caring wonderful lady with a beautiful family. I will miss her.

So very sorry for the loss of Mrs. Cantrell.  She was my 5th grade teacher. We knew when she was on "the war path", due to placing a feather in her blonde bee hive! 😌Good and fair teacher. She expected a lot from me, and I am thankful.  I hope I didn't disappoint.

Cara and family,
I was so shocked and sad to hear of your mom’s passing. I’ve known your family through my momma for over 50 years. Discovered we both shared the same birthday and have loved getting to know her and very blessed to be able to call her My Friend! Not a birthday will ever go by that I don’t think of her. I wish we hadn’t procrastinated about that “birthday lunch” but seemed something was always going on with one of us. Thanks for including me and sharing your mom with me!

Barbara,  we're feeling your absence in our lives. I admire your passion in life,  always ready for an adventure,  especially in joining our families in trying out new food and restaurants! Thank you for making an impression in our life's journey. Barbara, may you rest in peace.

Mrs. Cantrell was a wonderful teacher. Her smile, encouraging words and beautiful voice left a lasting impact on so many at Littles Elementary in Arlington. I pray God’s blessing on all who grieve her absence.
