Betty was born in Stamford on Oct. 5, 1942, and was the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Featherston. She graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1960 and Texas Christian University with a bachelor of science in nursing in 1966.
Betty married Jim Jack on Sept. 2, 1963. They had three children. In her early married life, she served as a nurse in many capacities, including hospital work, church youth camps and supporting military families overseas.
Betty is also remembered for her creative flair with decorating, cooking and gardening. She loved to entertain people in her home and friends were always welcome around the table to eat.
For 57 years Betty was a member of University Baptist Church, where she lovingly taught Bible Study, VBS and Girls in Action. She was very active in her community with the Fort Worth Republican Women's Club, Junior Women's Club, Kiwanis International Club and local PTAs.
Locally, she was known as an astute businesswoman for more than 4 1/2 decades. She and her husband began the family real estate business, Jack Properties, while he served in the military and she worked as a nurse. This business grew to a large company providing homes for hundreds of families over the years.
Above all, her brother and children remember her strong work ethic and undying faith. Betty was a woman who loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for all she came across, especially her family. Even through her many years of illness, she did not lose her will to fight. Her spirit was an inspiration to so many people.
