Betty received her Master's Degree in Nutrition and spent many years as a registered dietitian at various hospitals, nursing homes and finally for the Tarrant County Public Health Department until her retirement.
After being widowed, she met and married Merle F. Scoggins and celebrated 30 years together before he passed away. Betty enjoyed traveling, cooking, trying new recipes, and reading. Her biggest passion, though, were her many rescue dogs over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Merle.
She is survived by her stepdaughters: Dedra Billings of Maryland; Becky Gertgen and husband Mike of Austin; and Diana Burnett and husband, George, of Covington; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friends Pam and Jeff Whitener and her two dog-babies, Sasha and Loukie.
No service is planned but if any friends are led, a donation to a pet rescue would be her wish.
